Boost Your Budgeting
Students will go in depth on how to properly budget their paycheck/money. Students will participate in simulation games to test their persuasion to choose between needs versus wants.
Step One: Pretest

Students are to complete provided pretest containing questions pertaining to the keys components of budgeting to measure baseline of knowledge.

Step Two: Vocabulary

Students are to complete provided vocabulary worksheet.

Step Three: Mock Budget Plan

In this scenario the Budgeting Buddy worker is 20 years of age and lives by him/herself, with the monthly income of $1,000 after all taxes and expenses are paid (including rent, electricity, heating/cooling, income tax, health insurance, and any other necessary bills)

Students must create a budget plan with the $1,000 they earn within a month, including but not limited to, food, clothing, technology, and outside events, while attempting to set aside a lump sum for savings and must identify the larger item they are saving for.

The student with the most left to deposit into their savings account may win a prize according to the program.
Step Four: Post Test

Students are to complete provided post test containing questions pertaining to the keys components of budgeting from throughout the lesson to measure obtained knowledge.
