Bristol-Plymouth DECA Students Spread Message of Financial Literacy

DECA, which was founded in 1946, is an international association made up of high school and college students and teachers with the goal of either prepping for a career in a business-related field, or simply making oneself more financially literate.

The three B-P students, who call themselves Budgeting Buddies, organized and staged the workshop — held in Taunton Public Library’s Joseph E. Flood auditorium — as a requirement of the competitive event called the Financial Literacy Promotion Project.

That DECA project, which falls under the “career cluster” heading of Personal Financial Literacy, requires participants to conduct research and then teach and explain those everyday financial principles to children and adults.
